Dr. José Antonio García

José Antonio García Vázquez trained in psychiatry through the Guy’s, King’s, and St. Thomas’ Training Scheme in Psychiatry in London, where he also pursued studies in child psychiatry, anthropology, and the history of psychiatry. He previously studied Theology at the University of Navarra and the San Pelagio Center in Córdoba (University of Comillas).  

He has served as the Head of Psychiatry Services in Dover and Durham (England) and as the Medical Director of CABM in Ciempozuelos, Madrid. Additionally, he was responsible for psychiatric training for students and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Canterbury. He has contributed numerous presentations and publications on various aspects of psychiatric practice, including psychopharmacology, service organization, and the interaction between psychiatry, philosophy, and spirituality.  

With a profound interest in the history of ideas and science, he has had the opportunity to learn from two great cultural and intellectual traditions: the Anglo-Saxon and the Hispanic. The synthesis of these traditions allows him to approach the challenges of understanding disability and its complexities with fresh perspectives and to advocate for innovative management within a new paradigm.  

His approach to medical practice places the patient at its core. He believes that compassion and meticulous care for those who suffer are essential to the art of healing and alleviating suffering.
